My first attempt...hopefully not my last!

Ok...so here I go. This is my first attempt at this "blogging " thing. Those of you who know me best know that this is a stretch for me. Especially since I'm lucky to know how to turn a computer on sometimes. But that aside, I'm going to do the best I can.

I hope this blog will serve as a way for y'all (our family and friends) to keep up with us as we experience our adventures in Shanghai, China. I will attempt to update the blog regularly with pictures and entries. That is assuming I have good stuff to tell y'all about. I guess if no good stuff comes up, I'll just start making stuff up. That might be more fun anyway!

So for those of you who don't know the schedule here it is. Our flight leaves from Kalamazoo, Michigan on Monday, April 30th around noon. We fly to Detroit and then leave from Detroit for a 13 hour flight to Tokyo. We have a 2 hour layover in Tokyo then we leave there and fly to Shanghai. We will arrive in Shanghai on Tuesday, May 1st around 9:30pm. That's the plan.

So now for the really awesome news. My Mom has decided to come with us! Not for the entire year, though that would be great! But she will be flying over with us initially and staying for about 10 days. Is my Mom not awesome or what!?! It will be such a blessing having her there to help us. Hopefully it will also help her feel better about us being over there, seeing everything with her own eyes.

Well, as you can imagine we have just a "little" bit of work to do here. Getting ready to leave the country for a year and all. So I'm signing off for now. 再见-That's goodbye in Chinese!
